Torino@Notte (tel 041 522 39 14, Campo San Luca 459, San Marco, open 10pm-2am Tuesday to Saturday). This unlikely looking spot (during the day) livens up at night as a young student set settles in for mixed drinks, music and occasionally even a live act. Martini Scala (tel 041 522 41 21, San Marco 1501, open 9pm-3.30am, Wednesday to Monday). If you like the piano-bar scene, maybe this is for you and there arenot many places open until this late in Venice. Harry's Bar (tel 041 528 57 77, Calle Vallaresso 1323, open noon-11pm). Everyone who is anyone passing through Venice usually ends up here sooner or later. Characters like Orson Welles, Ernest Hemingway and Truman Capote have had a cocktail or two at Harry's. Taverna da Baffo (tel 041 520 88 62, Campiello Sant'Agostin 2346, open 7am-2am, Monday to Saturday). The place takes its name from Casanova's poet pal, Giorgio Baffo, and lined with his rhymes in praise of 'the round arse', this bar has a young feel. In summer the tables outside are an especially pleasant spot to sit and sip an apperitivo. |
